UNSC Resolution Whatever

UN Santa Claus: Here you go Occupied Palestinians, here's your Christmas prezzie:

"Reaffirms that the establishment by Israel of settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, has no legal validity and constitutes a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the achievement of the two-State solution and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace;"

Occupied Palestinians (deflated): But UN Santa, we've got stacks of these already. How about something new for a change?

UN Santa Claus: Listen up, you ingrates, you're damn lucky. You only got this because the US finally coughed up for it! Now STFU, or I'll sool the PA dogs onto you:

"Recalling also the obligation under the Quartet Roadmap for the Palestinian Authority Security Forces to maintain effective operations aimed at confronting all those engaged in terror and dismantling terrorist capabilities, including the confiscation of illegal weapons,"

UN Santa Claus: Oh, and give poor old Israel a break from your constant whining, OK?

"Calls upon both parties to act on the basis of international law, including international humanitarian law, and their previous agreements and obligations, to observe calm and restraint, and to refrain from provocative actions, incitement and inflammatory rhetoric, with the aim, inter alia, of de-escalating the situation on the ground, rebuilding trust and confidence, demonstrating through policies and actions a genuine commitment to the two-State solution, and creating the conditions necessary for promoting peace;"

MERC, calm down. The machinations of Netanyahu are being given visibility. Like other puppeteers, they don't like to be seen to be pulling the strings. The liberal Zionists - who are most of Israel's popular support in the US - are now having to face up to their hypocrisy - and they don't like it.

Netanyahu is now talking about pulling Israeli funding from UN agencies and pulling Israel's ambassadors from the countries that put the resolution - if we don't like the referee's decision we will take our ball and go home. The more like an arrogant egocentric teenage bully he appears the better.

As others have pointed out on other blogs, ceasing to fund the US means loss of voting rights. Good riddance.

From the NYT, August 28, 1922: "The League of Nations is a Jewish idea, and Jerusalem some day will become the capital of the world's peace," declared Dr. Nahum Sokolow, Chairman of the Zionist Executive Committee, at a special meeting of the Zionist Conference today.

To illustrate what I'm trying to get across about visibility, see this link in Angry Arab today:

http://articles.latimes.com/2013/jun/08/world/la-fg-israel-foreign-aid-20130609

It is worth a read - had me laughing aloud in places. What clearly comes across is that Israel does not understand and doesn't try to understand why it is among the world's most hated countries.

This link would not have been there if not for Netanyahu's rant. The more Netanyahu blusters the more exposed his position and that of Israel becomes.
