The brief report, Shnatties soar off to Israel, in the Australian Jewish News of February 1 reads as follows:
"There were emotional scenes at airports in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth last Sunday as families, madrichim and friends bade farewell to the 140 participants of the 2013 Shnat programs. Among the [Zionist youth] movements sending youngsters to Israel were Betar, Bnei Akiva (pictured), Habonim Dror, Hashomer Hatzair, Hineni and Netzer. Their departure coincided with International Holocaust Remembrance Day and Israel's National Day for Countering Anti-Semitism, making the occasion all the more significant according to the Zionist Federation of Australia president Philip Chester. 'There is no more powerful response to the anti-Zionists and anti-Semites in our midst than the large numbers of proud Australian Jews making a significant commitment to engaging and immersing themselves with Israel on experiential programs.'"
The photograph accompanying the report shows a group of young Australian Jews holding an Israeli flag and a sign which reads: 'WE'RE GOING HOME'.
Therein lies the delusional obscenity which lies at the heart of political Zionism, an obscenity I keep returning to again and again on this blog. And here I go again:
While millions of Palestinian refugees, ethnically cleansed from their Palestinian homeland since 1948, have been forced to live, stateless and disenfranchised, in squalid, cramped and precarious refugee camps dotted around the Arab world, and refused the right of return to their homeland simply because they're not Jews, these young Australian Jews, all with comfy Australian homes, have been brainwashed into believing that Palestine, not Australia, is their real homeland, and are presumably even prepared, so deep is the brainwashing, to move there permanently, don a uniform, and pick up a gun to shoot down any indigenous Palestinian, refugee or otherwise, whom they're told is in the way.*
What else? Oh yes, they get to keep their comfy Australian homes as well.
