'We Wait in Fear'

"I spent time with BBC journalists and a senior producer said to me 'We wait in fear for the phone call from the Israelis. I have had journalists on the phone to me minutes before a broadcast checking what they can say, which words they can use'." - Professor Greg Philo, Glasgow Media Group, SOAS, 19/5/11

Shit, here's one now:

"@BBCWorld this is a formal complaint by @IsraelMFA. This title [Israeli air strikes 'kill pregnant woman and baby'] This title is a deliberate misrepresentation of reality (that's the polite equivalent of 'this is a LIE', if you don't get it). Israelis were targeted by Hamas and IDF acts to protect them. Change it IMMEDIATELY!!! @IsraelMFA" - Emmanuel Nahshon tweet, 9/8/18

So they did, and in double time too: "Gaza air strikes 'kill woman and child' after rockets hit Israel" - 9/8/18

***

Don't tell me this isn't happening with our ABC.

Because of this:

I have just cancelled my subscription to Wikipedia. I wish I could cancel my subscription to the ABC. I would have done so long ago. As someone who has been a lifelong supporter of public broadcasting - radio in particular, I am appalled by the bias of the ABC, BBC, NPR on the I/P issue, that seems to have increased in recent years.

The Lobby has "Our" ABC firmly by the short and curlies.

I have just done the following experiment. I went to the ABC search window

http://search.abc.net.au/s/search.html?qu

and typed in "iran protests tehran". There was a hit from 3 Aug 2018 and another from 31 Jan 2018. The photograph accompanying the former item showed a few hundred protesters at most.
I then did the same for "Romania protests" and saw an item from 12 Aug 2018 where the numbers were in the thousands - perhaps 10000 and there was some violence - fire hosed being used and perhaps tear gas. Then I typed "tel aviv protests" - nothing. Well something back in 2009 about the treatment of gay people. Yet on each of the last two weekends in Tel Aviv there have been massive protests about the new Jewish-Nation Law. Estimates in both cases were in the tens of thousands (this weekend according to the story I read the number was 30000) and photographs suggest that is not far off the mark. Last weekend the protest was by Druze people and this weekend by Jews and Palestinians.

Our tax dollars at work. ABC, you are losing your greatest supporters.

Great research there, G! Likewise, there appears to be bugger all coverage of the ongoing Gaza protests.

"Our" media know the three R's when reporting any violence the Bandit State inflicts on the captive Palestinians. RESPONDING, REPLYING AND RETALIATING.
